Sun Fm is proud to support the 2012 Vernon Winter Carnival!

This year is sporting with Carnival, so bring on the games! There are a ton of events happening all over the city from Feb 3-12 that you can't miss out on!

Visit Vernon Winter Carnival to see all the events that you can attend! Be watching for Sun FM out and about for Carnival all week long!

Here are a few that are geared specifically for families with children:

Parade (February 4th at 12:00PM) - Bring your kids, your grandparents, your friends and loved ones down to the Winter Carnival parade. This year’s theme “Sporting with Carnival” will bring out the community spirit in all ages. This is the largest free event of the Carnival. Don't forget to fill out the Christel Cam Memorial Award ballot for the Best Parade Spirit! Special thanks to Shaw TV for televising the event.

Free Movie Fundraiser for Starlight Children's Foundation (February 5th from 9:00-12:00PM) - There will be five free movies being shown. Start time: 9:00am – 10:00am. Concession: Pop $2.00, popcorn $2.00 donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation. Click here for more information.

Kids Truck Rodeo (February 5th from 12:00-2:00PM) - Children aged 12 and under try their skills at maneuvering a miniature truck on a speed course. Concession available – hot dogs, hot chocolate, popcorn, coffee.

Kids Karnival (February 5th from 12:00-4:00PM) - A fun festival for children & families featuring crafts, face painting, games and so much more. Activities suitable for families with young children. Concession available – hot dogs, pop, juice, chips, Tim Horton treats. Costumes encouraged!

Outdoor Skating Party (February 8th from 6:30-8:30PM) - Join us for a fabulous evening of skating, popular music, and great prizes. Music provided by Kiss FM. Concession available – hot dogs, chips, pop, hot chocolate. Create a costume of carnival theme or wear your favorite.

School Poster Contest (February 9th from 8:00-3:00PM) - Poster contest is open to all children from Kindergarten to Grade 7. Posters will be displayed at the Vernon Community Arts Centre the week of Carnival. Entries from all schools & home schoolers will be judged & prizes awarded to the winners at a reception, Thurs. Feb. 9 at 7:00 pm at the Vernon Community Arts Centre in Polson Park. Click here for more information.

Much Music Video Dance (February 10th from 5:30-9:00PM) - Entertainment with Much Music Video Dance (Videomax TM) Concessions available – pop, chips, water all evening. Pizza will be available 5:30pm – 7:00pm. A fun filled evening of popular music & dancing. Parents and family members are welcome to purchase tickets and attend with their child. This dance is for elementary age students only.

Toonie and a Tin Skate Presented by Tim Hortons (February 12th from 10:45-3:45PM) - Enjoy an afternoon of ice skating with the whole family. There will be members of the Vernon Vipers in attendance as well as Queen and Princess Silver Star. This event includes the Vernon Shrine Club’s Masquerade Skating Party. There will be face painting, bounce castles, free Tim Horton’s timbits and hot chocolate for kids of all ages to enjoy. Take a break from skating and take part in the kids craft corner that will be set up by Prospera Credit Union. The concession will be open. Come and enjoy this family fun Carnival wrap up and support the food bank!
